Important Notice:

I will not be attending the Winter Base Camp for personal reasons indirectly related to the COVID 19 outbreak. I came to this conclusion last night and shared on the WhatsApp group page as soon as I came to the conclusion. I am pretty upset about not going because I have been thinking of the trip since last March and this may be my last opportunity to do something Epic for at least months. I am still pretty upset about not going.

I understand that the CDC is not recommending pleasure trips. If you are going, please take every precaution to stay healthy. I was planning on keeping disinfecting wipes, Purell, and gloves during travel. I urge you to check with the CDC site and read their advice.

I will be available if anyone wants to contact me. Please use the WhatsApp messenger or voice. We have done a lot of work to put together the event, but there are probably some organizer notes like coordination SAG on Mt. Lemmon you may want to discuss in detail. (Note: Roughly we were discussing everyone chipping in for the SAGs for food/water and a gratuity.)

If you are still going please register (for free) so we know who is coming.

I hope you all have a great time and please post many pictures to make us jealous. But , Please be safe.

There is no better way to kick off the cycling season than a warm base camp.

Tuscon AZ is one of the best bicycling cities in the country. We will be riding its iconic routes to prepare for the 2020 cycling season. This is an unmanaged excursion. Think of it as a going on group rides with no leader (or everyone is a leader) while on vacation. For the most part, rides are straight forward. There are shorter ride options. The goal is to get in some base miles and enjoy the sun. It is important NOT to go hard every ride. Monday’s climb up Mt Lemmon will be the big challenge of the week.

The remaining rides will be a suitable pace to build miles without going into the red. Riders have the option to ride at their speed or chose alternate routes.

At some point, we will all meet for dinner and maybe have a party. The last plan ride is on Thursday. This gives folks the opportunity to see the Grand Canyon, MTB Sedona or chill in Phoenix before returning to work.
